We are proud to offer several choices of sedation for the anxious or phobic dental patient:
Oral Conscious Sedation, Intravenous Conscious Sedation, and General Anesthesia.

Intravenous Conscious Sedation

Intravenous (IV) sedation allows patients to achieve a highly relaxed, sleep-like state. IV sedation requires a sedative drug to be administered via injection. Although sedated, patients remain conscious throughout the entirety of their treatment. In most cases, the patient does not remember the procedure once the sedative wears off. Dr. Forlano is trained and licensed in administering IV sedation. Please contact the office before your next visit if you believe that IV sedation is a suitable choice for you.

Oral Conscious Sedation

Oral Conscious Sedation allows patients to experience a deep state of relaxation while remaining conscious. This allows us to treat fearful patients who would otherwise avoid the dentist. It is a "no needle" approach that many patients find more accommodating than the traditional IV method. You no longer have to put off your dental needs no matter how complex or simple the treatment may be. With the magic and safety of Oral Conscious Sedation, you can overcome your anxiety and get the care you want and need.

General Anesthesia

For those requiring a deeper state of relaxation, we offer General Anesthesia monitored and administered by a Board Certified Dental Anesthesiologist in the comfort and convenience of our office. Patients are monitored with the same standards of care as in a hospital. The anesthesiologist never leaves the patient’s side and continues to monitor the patient into the recovery period...which can be as little as twenty minutes.

Sedation for Children

For those children requiring sedation, we offer Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas), Oral Conscious Sedation and IV Sedation. Safety is our primary concern when choosing a sedation method. Untimately, we want every child to feel comfortable coming to the office to receive treatment. Sedation is an option that can make their visit more enjoyable.

Advanced Training in Sedation Dentistry

Dr. Forlano has completed several courses in sedation both at New York University College of Dentistry and at Montefiore Medical Center. He is a New York State licensed professional in enteral and parenteral sedation in the dental office. For a safe and pleasant experience in sedation dentistry, please be assured that our facility is equipped with two state-of-the-art cardiac monitors with pulse oximetry and capnography. Also, every member of our clinical team is trained in ACLS or BSL.
